Samson Between the Religious Legend and the Theatrical Text "Samson and Delilah of Mou’en Bseiso As A Model"

Abstract

Abstract:
The study seeks to research how the dramatic treatment of Samson's Legend in the theater is handled, revealing the extent of the difference between the addressed legend and the theatrical text, and monitors the most important intellectual and cultural issues in the dramatic text. The study for this, raises several questions including:
- "What are the mechanisms for the dramatic treatment of the Samson legend in the theater?"
- What are the most important contemporary intellectual and cultural issues raised by the theatrical text?
The study follows the descriptive- analytical approach, and deals with the play of "Samson and Delilah as a model". The study has come to several conclusions including the following:
- "Mou’en Bseiso" has reproduced the Legend in a different vision to put forward his intellectual vision. He has not adhere to the legendary elements, except that he has resorted to partial employment of the legend, so he has been capable to separate the legendary characters and the dramatic characters who have carried many symbols.
- "Bseiso" was inspired by some of his theatrical characters from the legend, but it was loaded with many symbols. The text highlight the various types of terrorism practiced by the Israelis against the people of Palestine through the link between the past and present, and confirmed on a range of issues as a matter of The Arab unity and The Arab-Israeli conflict.
