The Issues and Problems of Middle Class in Numan Ashour''''s Theater

Basically, Theater is closely related to social issues. That is, since its emergence in the Golden Age of the Greeks in the 5^th century BC up till now, the theater has closely been related to social issues as one of the oldest society – expressing means. In other words, theater is the field in which a playwright could express his own views of certain conditions he experiences by portraying them dramatically to people who would receive his portrayal with their societal conscience. So, a playwright, engaged with social plays, depends on his awareness of the concerns of his society and class when putting down his drama. So, Numan Ashour was more honest in expressing his middle class hopes, ambitions and dreams, and the same was his portrayal of their relations with the upper bourgeois and lower classes.
This research aimed at identifying the significant issues and problems of middle class put forward by Numan Ashour in his theater and the extent to which theatrical art was able to present the issues of middle class. This research aimed also to give clear display of Numan Ashour''s theatrical works. This research adopted the analytical approach, and its sample of study is Numan Ashour''s plays of: the People Under, the Aldogri''s Family, the Towers of Tanneries and the Foreign Countries.
The research results revealed that Numan Ashour managed to elevate reality by presenting noble values that must prevail. This result appears in all of his creative dramas, especially in the People Under play.
The research highlighted that Noman Ashour''s plays were highly concerned with middle class issues and problems that include poverty, stealing others'' money, removing class differences, class ambitions, family disputes, travelling and immigration.
