The Metaphysical Dimension of the Renaissance Painting Between Form and Content

Abstract

Metaphysics in art is a trend that aims to reveal the essence of things, and search for the absolute or the value. It is a feeling of what is above sensation and reality. It is also a processing of art from a specific vision, that is, in terms of its relationship to existence, whether it is in its general sense, i.e., comprehensive existence, or in its specific sense, i.e., human existence. Where art becomes a vision of existence and life, not a vision of reality, whether partial or complete. The artist or the genius is the one whose cognitive ability allows him to see the reality of the whole world, and of existence. And the beautiful subject here is that subject that we see and enjoy with it, regardless of its relations with other things, that is, that subject which we see in its eternal character, that is, in its existential or metaphysical character.
This paper aims to study the metaphysical dimension in terms of form and content in the painting art in a very distinctive era in the history of art, the Renaissance. For the purpose of reaching an innovative expressive entries in the art of painting through investment philosophical, forming and expressionism of the metaphysic.
One of the most important results of the paper is that the metaphysical dimension in the Renaissance in terms of form or content had a distinctive charming character that stimulates the imagination and opens many areas of interpretation. This is perhaps one of the most important motives that directed the artists to this direction. In addition, this dimension is linked to many studies, theories, discoveries, and ideas of this era.
