The image of a vitiligo patient as presented by the Egyptian TV drama (A case study of the TV series "Illa Ana" Tale of "I must live" as a model)

Abstract

the Egyptian TV drama, and the study relied on the case study approach through the qualitative analysis of the content of the series that dealt with the vitiligo patient, which was represented in only one series, Illa Ana; Tale of "I must live", which was shown during the month of Ramadan 2021. The study relied on the in-depth viewing tool to collect the data of the study, and the study concluded that the roles played by the vitiligo patient in television drama varied between the main roles and the secondary roles, but with a focus on the main role. The age of the vitiligo patient was represented in four stages: childhood, adolescence, youth, as well as the stage of maturity, but with a focus on the youth stage, The study also found a variety of psychological traits of the vitiligo patient that the series showed, including: lack of self-acceptance, lack of self-confidence, feeling sad, feeling frustrated and hopeless, feeling oppression and injustice, optimism, and self-acceptance.
The relationship between a vitiligo patient and his family was characterized by support and encouragement, but with some disagreements that led to some tension in the relationship, The relationship of the vitiligo patient with friends was also characterized by support, assistance and sacrifice. It was also characterized as a relationship based on frankness. The vitiligo patient`s methods of confronting the problems he faced, as presented by the series, the study sample, consisted of concealing the truth, undergoing psychological treatment, and confronting society.
