It has become an essential component of many art forms, most notably cinema, where it serves as an effective means of expressing the emotions of characters and conveying moods, ranging from deep sadness to renewed hope and happiness.
The piano has long been a storytelling medium in films, from the era of silent cinema—when music was a fundamental element to compensate for the absence of sound—to modern cinema, which relies on soundtracks to provide an immersive sensory experience. The piano has played a pivotal role in guiding audiences toward a deeper understanding of events and characters.
The research includes: an introduction, the research problem, research questions, significance of the research, research objectives, research limitations, research procedures, research terminology, and previous studies.
The study is divided into two main parts:
1. The Theoretical Framework: This section explores cinematic narrative, the influence of music on cinematic storytelling, and the relationship between music and films.
2. The Applied Framework: This section provides a general musical narrative analysis of the musical elements in the selected pieces from the films The Pianist and Shine.
The research concludes with findings that address the research questions, recommendations, research sources, and a summary in both Arabic and English.
