he current research aims to the current study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the Conceptual Contradictory Event Mapping Strategy based on Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence Theory in developing lateral thinking skills and decision-making abilities among students of the Faculty of Home Economics. To achieve this objective, a set of research tools was developed and statistically validated for reliability and validity. These tools included a Lateral Thinking Test and a Decision-Making Scale. The research was conducted on a sample of 100 third-year students from the Department of Home Economics and Education, who were divided into two groups: an experimental group (50 students) and a control group (50 students). The study adopted a descriptive and quasi-experimental research methodology. The experimental results revealed statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in favor of the experimental group regarding lateral thinking skills and decision-making abilities. Furthermore, the findings confirmed the effectiveness of the Conceptual Contradictory Event Mapping Strategy, grounded in Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence Theory, in fostering lateral thinking skills, encouraging students to think creatively, and adapting flexibly and consciously to changing situations. Additionally, the study demonstrated a strong correlation between the development of lateral thinking and the enhancement of decision-making efficiency. This underscores the importance of integrating this strategy into home economics curriculam and teaching methods to prepare a generation of students capable of addressing challenges from multiple perspectives and making well-reasoned and rational decisions.
