Author

Abstract

The Arabian Gulf is geographically located southwest of the Asian continent. Its countries include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Iraq. The official language is Arabic. Its distinctive features and characteristics characterize Gulf music, making it a distinct style and unique flavor. Perhaps its most important feature is the preservation of its authenticity, heritage, and national and local characteristics, which are always linked to the specific heritage of each country. Each country's national anthem symbolizes its identity, borders, and even sovereignty over its land. If lyrics accompany the national anthem's music, it is called the national anthem. If the raising of the flag accompanies the national anthem, it serves as a declaration of the country's sovereignty and presence among nations. Therefore, the national anthem always has the highest degree of patriotic character. The national anthem is often specially prepared to suit these goals. Hence, the lyrics are written, and the musical phrases are crafted with a high patriotic spirit. From here, the researcher began working on renewing contemporary musical thought and introducing the national anthem of the Arab Gulf states into the curricula designated for postgraduate studies in an optional specialized studies course and playing and singing on the oud (the researcher’s specialty).
