Abstract

This research is a theoretical review of a solo exhibition (art exhibition) titled "Textile Letters," held from 1/Rabi' al-Awwal/1439 AH (corresponding to 19/November/2017) for a week in the permanent exhibition hall of the College of Education at Umm Al-Qura University, where the researcher worked as an associate professor in the Department of Art Education at Umm Al-Qura University.
Research Topic: The Aesthetic Values ​​of Arabic Letters as a Source of Creativity in the Design and Production of Contemporary Textile and Woolen Murals
This research examines the aesthetic aspects of Arabic letters as a creative source for the design and production of contemporary textile and woolen murals. The project is based on presenting an art exhibition titled "Textile Letters," which combines the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy and the art of hand-weaving, particularly the carpet pile technique. The exhibition displays diverse artworks that employ Arabic letters in a modern abstraction, creating visual works that blend heritage and modernity. The research highlights the visual potential of Arabic letters through the use of various weaving techniques and explores the ability of these letters to give artwork a decorative character and visual and intellectual depth. The exhibition also discusses the importance of developing students' artistic and educational awareness through this unique artistic blend.
Research Problem:

The limited use of Arabic letters in contemporary hand-woven works, despite their high artistic value.

Main Objective: Exploring the potential of Arabic letters in textile formulations.
Methodology:

Analytical and Experimental: An artistic study of calligraphic works and their application in textile works.
