Abstract

This research aims to enhance the physical and mechanical properties of children and new born clothes , by identifying the best fabric structures with the best type of  weft yarns, which can be used for underwear and outerwear of children and new born clothing , that realize comfort properties , by producing 100% cotton fabrics with three simple fabric structures (plain 1/1, twill 2/2 and satin 4) and three types of weft yarns (single, twined and flat)  . This research follows the analytical experimental approach to achieve the hypotheses and objectives of research.
The results showed that:
1) The best sample is the 100% cotton fabric, which is satin 4 with flat weft yarn type  with a quality factor 90.61%
2) The lowest sample is the 100% cotton fabric, which is plain 1/1 with single weft yarn type , with a quality factor 84.82%
3)The best fabric that can be used as underwear for new born children is the 100% cotton fabric , which is satin 4 with flat weft yarn type, which realizes the best wearing properties like (highest white - higher air permeability - less absorption time - less roughness)
4) The best fabric that can be used as outerwear for new born children is the 100% cotton fabrics , plain 1/1 structure with a twined weft yarn type, which realizes the best wearing properties like (highest tensile strength and highest elongation).
5) Regarding the wrinkle resistance property, the best fabric was satin 4 with a twined weft yarn type. In terms of weight per square meter, the best fabric was twill 2/2 structure with single weft yarn type.
After that, the research has introduced some advises and suggestions :
1 –Make more attention to children's clothing , especially in the time of newborns as a try to enhance the physical and mechanical properties through the stages of spinning and weaving to achieve the required comfort properties for this stage.
2 – Encouraging of companies and garment factories to make more attention for general research, especially children and new born clothes , as a try to link the results of scientific research with civil society and to be applicable.
