The practices of students of the Faculty of Home Economics at Northern Borders University towards the use of social networks and their relationship to life satisfaction

Abstract

this research mainly to studythe practices of University students towards using social networks and their relationship to life satisfaction, the research sample included a sample of female strength properly addressed 191 squamous, the questionnaire has been used as a tool for data collection, interview Profile.
The data were analyzed statistically using percentages and chi square as well as the correlation coefficient (Pearson) by the computer program SPSS V.21.
The results of the study are shown in the following:
• The percentage of respondents' use of social networks varied, with most of them being WhatsApp, Instagram and Twitter (85.3%, 49.7% and 34.6%, respectively).
• 45.5% of the respondents said they find it difficult to control their use of social networks. 42.9% of the respondents said that their families are complaining about their constant preoccupation with social networking sites, and 41.9% feel that they are self-destructing due to their excessive use of networks and 41.4% of the respondents reported that their academic achievement declined due to their excessive use in the social networks. 48.2% of the respondents said that they sometimes benefit from the social networks in pursuing their studies, and 46.1% of respondents feel that they sometimes use social networks to increase the number of friends.
• The level of practices of 68.6% of respondents to use social networks was average and high (45.0% and 23.6%, respectively).
• 56.5% of the respondents do not enjoy a high moral spirit; 48.7% of the students feel that they are concerned about the future; 34.0% sleep a lot to escape their reality. This is due to their dissatisfaction with the reality of their lives, in addition, 64.4% of the respondents did not have many good relations with others, and 57.0% of the respondents had no relationship with their family members. 56.0% of the respondents had no sincere friends and were not satisfied with their family members
The level of satisfaction with life in 41.4% of respondents was low, while the average level was 35.1%.
• There is a statistically significant relationship between university students' practices towards the use of social networks and satisfaction with life.
There were no significant differences between the use of social networks and all the independent variables studied at any probability level.
• There were no significant differences between the use of the level of satisfaction with life and all the independent variables studied at any probability level, except for the academic level, where there are significant differences at the probability level of 0.001 (the value of the simple correlation coefficient r 25.350 **).
