Abstract

The environment is characterized by high flexibility to accommodate the changes that occur to it as a result of human activity, but its energy is limited, which leads to pollution and disruption of its ecological system. Small projects have a role in changing the behaviors and ideas of young people, so they can benefit from the raw materials of the home environment and establish small projects that increase income as well.
This research was conducted using a questionnaire by personal interview with the aim of providing university youth with the skills of recycling household waste towards practicing small projects on a random sample of 120 Alexandria University youth, and a purpose sample of 20 students from the Department of Home Economics was trained to provide them with skills in recycling household waste and innovation of new recycled products.
The most prominent results of the research were that the level of practices of university youth under study towards the disposal and utilization of household waste, and the level of their tendency towards establishing small projects, was an average of (64.2%) and (76.6%), respectively.
It also found a direct significant correlation at the probability level 0.01 between the university youth's tendency towards recycling household waste and their tendency towards establishing small projects, and an inverse significant correlation at the probability level 0.05 between the university youth's practices towards recycling household waste and their needs to set up small projects.
The results showed a significant effect at the probability level 0.01 of awareness (knowledge - attitudes - practices) of the university youth under study towards recycling household waste on the attitude of university youth towards establishing small projects by 13.3%, and a significant effect was found at the probability level 0.01 of awareness (knowledge - Attitudes-practices of the university youth under study towards recycling waste and the needs of university youth under study to establish small projects, at a rate of 13.7%.
