Abstract

The research aimed to assess the effectiveness of a guidance program designed to enhance nutritional awareness among students of technical hotel schools in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. A nutritional guidance program was planned, implemented, and evaluated to measure its impact before and after the sessions on student awareness.

A sample of 384 students from three hotel schools (Kafr El-Sheikh, Bialla, Sidi Ghazi) was selected for the 2022-2023 academic year. The quasi-experimental method was used. The program included six sessions covering topics such as adolescent nutritional needs, health problems related to nutrition, food allergies, fast food, carbonated drinks, and energy drinks. Pre- and post-evaluation forms were utilized.

The results showed significant improvements in the students' nutritional awareness after the program. The study recommended expanding the program to all technical education schools (hotel, industrial, commercial, agricultural) in the governorate. It also suggested incorporating the program into official curricula to ensure long-term enhancement of nutritional awareness, alongside improving the nutritional infrastructure in school canteens.

Additionally, the study advised developing age-appropriate educational resources such as brochures, interactive materials, and instructional videos. Continuous teacher training was recommended to update their knowledge on nutrition, and modern technology like smart apps and interactive programs was proposed to improve learning and engagement with nutritional guidance programs.
