The Symbolic Meaning of the Element and Its Role in Logo Design as an input to Designing a Visual Identity for Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate

Abstract

Visual Identity is considered one of the most important mechanisms for expressing the culture of human societies throughout successive historical eras. The ancient Egyptian left us a great historical legacy by expressing the practices of daily life on the walls of temples and caves. This could be considered as a record which documented the cultural, social, religious, political and economical life, therefore, the basis and main pillars of the visual identity project for Kafr Elsheikh Governorate appeared. The study aimed to identify the Symbolism of the components of the visual identity, and analyzing the main elements included in the logos, which were 5 different logos that expressed the visual identity of Kafr Elsheikh Governorate. Furthermore, the study has concluded that the visual identity project is an expression of the cultural identity of the community with historical roots and that it also helped promote tourism in Kafr Elsheikh Governorate, which helped to increase the tourism activity of the governorate.The researcher recommended updating programs and curricula that are concerned with the cognitive and skill development of the designer, and working to develop curricula that discuss the language of the product and cultural and civilizational connotations, to support the trend of asserting identity among the arts student and future designer.
