Furnishing is one of the basic elements of interior design because it is found everywhere and everyone needs it; it includes many fabrics with multiple uses, some of which are used in restaurants, hotels and theaters, and some of which are used in home furnishing. The role of furnishings is important in adding beauty and elegance to furniture; tablecloths are characterized by the possibility of being used in furnishing hotels, homes, theaters and restaurants alike; enriching the design of tablecloths in a contemporary and elegant way requires the use of one of the handicrafts, as the art of hand crochet can be used to make tablecloths from synthetic materials (such as plastic yarn) or from natural materials (such as cotton yarn); therefore, the current research aimed to reveal the possibility of benefiting from plastic and cotton yarns in enriching the aesthetics of crocheted tablecloths. The research adopted the experimental method, the analytical method and the descriptive method; a product evaluation card was prepared and used as a study tool to measure three aspects (aesthetic, economic, and functional), after presenting it to specialists in the field from faculty members to measure the stability and validity of the measurement tool. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences in favour of plastic yarns in enriching the economic and functional aspects of crocheted tablecloths, and in favour of cotton yarns in enriching the aesthetic aspect of crocheted tablecloths.
