The effect of difference of some woven fabrics on the functional and aesthetic properties of bedroom furnishings

Abstract

Home furnishings are considered one of the basic necessities for every home, and to keep up with the modern trends in furnishing fabrics, the idea of ​​the current research came to study the effect of the difference in some woven fabrics offered in the Egyptian market on the functional and aesthetic properties of bedroom furnishings. As most of the furnishing fabrics offered in the Egyptian market are produced from multiple and varied materials, especially woven fabrics. The research aims to study the effect of different woven fabrics on the functional and aesthetic properties of bedroom furnishings offered in the Egyptian markets, identify the best tested woven fabrics that achieve the functional and aesthetic properties of bedroom furnishings, and produce some bedroom furnishing pieces from the best samples of tested woven fabrics. The importance of the research lies in contributing to identifying the best types of woven fabrics used to produce bedroom furnishings offered in the Egyptian markets. Fabric tests were conducted in the "Threads and Fabrics Testing" laboratory of the Clothing and Textiles Department - Faculty of Home Economics - Helwan University and the "National Research Center in Dokki, Cairo". The most important results of the research were that the samples of patterned cotton fabric and fuchsia sheet tulle obtained the highest scores in all the tests that were conducted, achieving the functional, aesthetic, innovative and evaluation aspects (as a whole) in the executed pieces according to the statistical analysis based on the opinions of the judges. Consumers' opinions were positive towards the executed pieces from the best woven and tested fabrics.
